Cameron Maitland

I am a psychology researcher completing a PhD programme through the Salvesen Mindroom Research Centre at the University of Edinburgh and Heriot-Watt University. My research interests span across autism, mental health, social relationships and participatory research.  I specifically explore autistic people’s social identities and how they relate to their mental health.

If you are interested in my current projects, you can get in touch with me via e-mail: C.A.Maitland@ed.ac.uk or via Twitter: @c_a_maitland

Kym Craig

I am a PhD student at Heriot-Watt University in my second year of study. I am also a primary and special needs teacher. Thus my research focuses on areas that help kids succeed in school, gain skills that will be important beyond school, and improve social interactions. I am particularly interested in doing this with kids diagnosed with Autism, as there are currently few strategies for navigating school. I believe using metacognitive strategies can significantly help academic and social skills. If you have any questions about my research, please contact me at kc71@hw.ac.uk.

Lorna Camus

I am a psychology PhD student at Heriot-Watt University, in my third year of study. My research focuses on autistic young people’s mental health as they transition from primary to secondary school. I am particularly interested in understanding why autistic people are found to be more likely to have anxiety or depression, and whether the experience of transitioning to secondary school might play a role in the development or aggravation of mental ill-health. Understanding this will allow us to identify avenues to support these young people and improve their quality of life. If you have any questions about or are interested in my research, you can get in touch with me via e-mail at lc97@hw.ac.uk.
